New Lecture/Workshop Series with Support of U.S. Japan Foundation

The Gitter-Yelen Art Study Center is privileged to announce the receipt of a grant from the United States-Japan Foundation in the amount of $20,000 for the first year of a two-year project to expand access to the Gitter-Yelen Japanese Art Collection and strengthen awareness of the collection as a resource among local arts administrators and K-12 educators.

This grant will allow the Center to implement a Japanese art speaker/workshop series inviting internationally recognized specialists in Japanese art to speak to carefully selected audiences identified from within the New Orleans community as part of a larger strategic plan of targeted outreach aimed at integrating the study and appreciation of Japanese art within the curriculum of cultural institutions in New Orleans and beyond. Particular attention will be directed to local high school teachers and their students.

We would like to express our gratitude to the United States-Japan Foundation for the opportunity to pursue this project. More information about the individual programs will be forthcoming.
